Bracha is a second greater and a great reader. She was well taught the skills of reading and is doing a great job in her fluency. Yet she is still struggling with the “magic E” or “silent E” whichever way you look at it. She is trying to self correct, but is still struggling. She had a great understanding of the text, and was able to explain to me the main idea of the text, interesting facts, etc. I focused my lesson on doing practice on the “magic e”
Lesson plan;

Practicing Magic E Words (10)
·        I would begin with explaining her again the concept of the magic e, and if we practice it shell become a better reader.
·        Use the fold and read cards, basically its cards that fold on the E so you read mat and then unfold and read mate.
·        Practice a few times till she gets familiar with the words.

Playing a Game to Practice the Magic E:
·        Play a four in a row game, have a paper with a bunch of words in circles, each of us gets a do dot, you need to start reading, its words mixed, some magic e and some not. You need to say read it say what it means. If you were right then you make a dot on it. Point is to get four in a row correct.

Do a worksheet to assess the child:
·        Have child do a worksheet on her own. Reading and matching to see where the child is up to now and how well she knew.
·        Send home a worksheet to practice at home.

Next lesson:
·        Next lesson we would first start with a self assessment to see how far she has come, and continue working on reading skills.

C  Bracha seemed to be catching on on the concept. Seems that she wasn’t taught it well, or was out that day.
