READING: Before we start reading engage the class in a discussion about a topic that correspond to the story we are going to be reading, it will be something that they have prior knowledge about. Students should read the story to themselves or in groups of two or three, with each kid getting a chance to read, while filling out a KWL chart. Have a class discussion about what we learned. Kids need to back their ideas of what they learnt from text of the story.

WRITING: Have students write about a specific character in the story in first person point of view and including feeling. Students will be given out the guidelines of what is required for every part of the story. They will need to fill in a graphic organizer on their writing. They will exchange it with their friend so their friend can mark how well is their word usage, clarity, and how interesting is the writing. The girls will fill out a self-assessment on the writing.
